It's quite daunting for me to start any photography project; every project I have previously started, I have failed. When I thought up this idea, I wanted to start it off with a new camera. There is nothing wrong with my camera - it is actually really good, but it's bulky for every day shooting. I wanted a rugged camera and ideally, I wanted it to be orange. However, money killed that idea, as money tends to do.
So, I am beginning with my bulky camera with 30x zoom that will hang from my neck like the Sword of Damocles every weekend and some weekdays. I'm beginning with the idea that I am not ruled by having to upload a photo every day or I fail. My only requirement is that I take and post 1,200 photographs in the next 12 months. On average, that is 3-3.5 photos/day or 22-23 photos a weekend.
At the end of this, there will be 1,200 photographs posted here and many more in storage on my computer and I will report how many actual photographs it took to find 1,200 that I liked. This will be difficult, as I am the harshest critic of my own work.
Feel free to comment, suggest locations, donate through paypal to 1200in12@gmail.com (for gas) and generally just enjoy the experience of seeing what I am seeing (through my eyes) for 1 year.
Who knows - if you stick around long enough, perhaps I'll take a million photos in a year! What's that, about 2800 usable photos a day? Ookay, maybe not!
